Artist Spotlight: Soo Kim
We are thrilled to showcase Soo Kim in the studio.

To the Floor - 40” x 30”
Soo Kim, who currently resides in Glen Rock, has loved drawing since she was a child.
Soo is a contemporary artist who creates original works of art that express the various stories of human emotions and vulnerability. Initially drawn to the medium of alcohol ink because of its beautiful flow, Soo’s art results in original works that are ethereal, calming and reenergizing.
Recently, our curator Kate sat down with Soo to chat with her a little about her work and her inspiration.
Kate: What would you say your motto is as an artist? Soo: Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken. Kate: Where do you get inspiration for your art? Soo: Music! As my artwork is an emotional release of colors, I love listening to soulful music of pop, soul, jazz, indie pop etc. Kate: How would you describe your art style? Soo: Free-flowing, a form of escape, energizing, yet relaxed. Kate: What is something that not many people know about you (that you don’t mind that we share)? Soo: My last job was working as an art director for Revlon launching fragrance campaigns! Kate: What do you hope people “get” from your art? Soo: A sense of 'escape' to relax, or energize through the abstract flows of color and movement. Kate: What is your favorite painting/piece of art and/or artist?
Soo: I've always loved Andrew Wyeth. Christina's World. 1948 | MoMA
as it provokes such emotion with just how she is sat down on the grass as the viewer only see's her back. I always somehow imagine what she looks like, what her emotions were, and start to tell my own story.
